Almost every third motorcycle in Germany has a seasonal license plate. This is a very high figure compared to other vehicle classes. However, it also means that two thirds of motorcycles can be driven in winter.
Two reasons are often cited when the question arises as to why the motorcycle is left standing in winter: saving money on insurance and bad weather.
Â
The latter is of course a matter of opinion. But the fact is that motorcycles can also be ridden at colder temperatures. In addition, there are nice, dry days in the winter months that can be enjoyed on a short ride if you adapt your riding style.
Â
As for the insurance? There are many different options, often influenced by the price range of the motorcycle. It’s worth running a sample calculation before making a final decision. In some cases, the savings compared to full-year insurance are not as significant as people often assume.
